Retrofitting 993 Pollen Filter into 964

My apologies if this topic has been covered before - I tried a search and came up with nothing.
As fellow 964 owners know, the 964 seems to be particularly good and funneling exhaust and other noxious fumes from other cars into the cabin. Porsche apparently recognized this by adding dual pollen filters to the climate control system for the 993 (see: http://p-car.com/diy/pollen/pollen.htm).
Has anyone tried retrofitting these pollen filters into a 964?
Thanks in advance for all replies.
John

John,
I too posted this query a little while back after searching and received no response
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/400101-acc-filters.html
Maybe a little "bump" might spark a little interest?

Hi guys
don't know if this helps, but have you tried to just use the "recirculate" air switch??? Instead of sucking in outside fumes, just recirculate air already in the cabin. I have mine permanently depressed in all my cars. Another bonus is that if you have air-con on, it doesn't need to work as hard, as the air is already lower temperature.
If you need fresh air, just open a window...

That of course would work wonderfully if we lived in the beautiful sunny land down under ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
But, up here in the great white North (aka Canada) you need outside air or else you find yourself fogging up quickly. I'm esp. interested in the filters for use in the spring time when it gets really dusty as all the snow melts. (Snow is the white stuff they have in the mountains of New Zealand
)
FWIW, in the summertime I use the recirc function as we can get quite warm here - except for the days in July when it snows of course

I'm tracking this thread as well - interest in a 964 platform but with a dust / pollen filter (vs. going 993). My issues are dust (all spring long we have it from the sand they used on the roads in the winter) and pollen (allergies - the only time my windows are open is during DE).

I don't think a retrofit is possible.
In looking at the PET, I see that the fiters (there are two) actually fit into the squirrel cages of the blower assemblies at either end of the HVAC module. The HVAC housing looks like it's wider in order to accommodate the filters, which appear to hang out of the squirrel cages.

I think they're supposed to sit in the mixing chamber in front of the squirrel cages but if the 993 has bigger mixing chambers then they probably wouldn't fit. Anyone have access to a 993 and a 964 to do a measurement comparison?

The last pic shows where the pollen filter sits - I still wonder if we have enough room. It looks like the filter might replace the plastic spacer that goes in front of the squirrel cage too as it has the guide tabs on it that the plastic spacer has.

it seems the only difference is the squirrel cages covers. the covers that surround the pollen filters on the 993.
I will try next week to interchange my parts on a 964 if nobody tries it before, and will let you know

from looking at pics from 993 and 964 evap replace threads, Porsche removed the flaps by the squirrel cages to install the pollen filters, hence removing the flap rods, etc. They added a new flap arrangement inside the center section.
Anyone have an airflow diagram for both cars?

Well it seems to me that you're asking these filters to do what they cannot. These are for filtering particulates like dust and pollen, not for noxious fumes like the filters a respirator would have.
Even if you found a way to use them, I don't think you'd get the effect you're looking for.
Cheers!
