FWIW to anyone contemplating selling their box; there's a good market and desire found for them on the GT40 forums.

look at the info I posted on page 1 of this thread /05 is a US '92-94. They use the taller 3.3333 cwp.

If you want I can post a full work up of what a /32 looks like w/ the tires and revs specified over on Pelican

I was too flip in my response, the /05 is clearly listed in the repair manual (had I actually checked before typing - mea culpa).

I have an Excel spreadsheet that has all the gear ratios (/01 to /04, /20 & /21, and /30 to /34 the /50 & /54 as well as the G64's) and allows me to calculate speed vs rpm and do plots, etc. I guess I simply didn't add the /05 to it as the gears are equivalent to the /03 and it's the final drive at 31:9 or 30:9 that differs (and didn't pay too much attention to Bill's earlier post as I already had the equivalent information). I put the Excel workbook together in '01 when I was looking to re-gear my /20 after it broke and needed fixing. I've "dusted it off" and am playing around with what would work best for the 964.

Anybody know about interchangeability of ratios between the different gearboxes in the G50 family?

Are 996/997 ratios compatible? If so, there seem to be a lot of ratios there between the racing and street ratios to choose from not in the 964 RSR parts book.

996/997 GT3 gearbox ratios are interchangable with a 6spd 993 box as are the 6spd gears from Paul Guard. The 5spd gears are interchangable within the 5spd family all the way back to 1987 as are the 5spd gears from Paul Guard.

Geoffrey -
Can the main shaft on the 993 with the fixed gears ( believe 1 and 2 ) be replaced?. Do you know who carries the main shaft optional gear ratios?-

It can be replaced. Mine came with both fixed and was replaced with one that only had 1st fixed. I don't know where Gamroth got the one used in mine, I thought it was a used Porsche Motorsport one.

I believe the G50/32 comes with only first gear fixed to the mainshaft and second splined on so it can be changed independently.

The RS gearboxes have only first on the mainshaft. You can buy mainshafts from a) the dealer, b) PMNA, or c) Paul Guard. I know there are other manufacturers of mainshafts, but those are the ones I'd stick with.
