Mass-hole:

Start w/a coupe!....but if you stay with the drop top, dump the big fat stupid wheels. Ditch the "Carrera" script (that's at least 1lb). get the cab top frame made of Ti, CF doors, hood rear lid. Strip all undercoating off the car. Rip out the interior and put in CF seats. Dump A/C and heater blower motor and radio. Get some dymag wheels and a lightweight battery. rip out the washer bottle and all hardware. ...that should keep you busy during winter. Circle back in May and let us know how you are doing.

Lets keep this a happy place.

Wow. Another attempted apology and then another display of rudeness.

I have only recently joined this forum and have found people to be very welcoming and extremely helpful as well as knowledgable. The key thing is to be aware that you are asking the advice of strangers and, as in most similar circumstances on and offline, it is best to be courteous at all times. Amazingly, people will reciprocate if you do.

The whole thing is with the age of the car and some of the care its going to need I think it may be easier to strip out some things.

As an example a friendly visit with another Rennlister helped me to discover that the drivers and passengers footwell pads were totally drenched and causing problems. I stripped them out. Wet I bet they weighed 60 lbs. So after a nice search and read I went ahead and bought rennline racing floors.

Cant wait to put them in. I hope I dont put them in upside down LOL.

I love this car.....PORSCHES rule. I freeze my *** off messing with this car. Next house will have a nice warm garage.

You will save quite a bit if you pull out all the sound pads & rear deck and do a RS carpet kit. Not sure what that would look like in a cab. I still think you are going down the wrong path starting with a cab and trying to strip weight. You'd be able to sell the cab, buy a coupe and have decent $s to spend on real performance upgrade/weight savings.

No doubt you are 100% correct if I were converting for the track. I just like the idea of a nice light outlaw cab. I dont have the time to attend track meets at this point in my life.

I would love a 550 but its not even in the cards. A sweet fast cab is nothing to sneeze at. I like coupes but I prefer a cab.

Some simple weight saves:

Remove the front trunk carpet
Rip out the sound proofing in the engine bay
Run with minimal water in the wash bottle
Get rid of the brake pad wear sensors by looping them out (every little helps )

Now we are talking! Here are a few more:

Buy-button up pants to save the weight of the zipper.
Don't wear underwear.
Cut the tags out of the clothes you do wear.
Shave off all body hair.....

A rough estimate, but removing the manual and dealer guide from the glovebox sheds about 23lbs.
