Gauge face replacement
Hi,
I'm in the process of "updating" the interior of my '91 C4 and am now looking to change the faces on the instruments to either silver or white dials.
I'm happy to do the actual face swapping work myself but wondered if anyone can recommend a good supplier? Have found a couple of suppliers here in the UK but they're both looking for nearly £350 inc. VAT which seems a little steep to me.
I have searched through previous postings here but the only recommended supplier I could find was a german ebayer who's no longer in existence.
Thanks in advance!
David

North Hollywood Speedometer in California will do it for around $350 USD.......less than half of what you are being quoted......so there is room for a couple of FEDEX charges. I always use them.
You may prefer someone local.....but judging from the costs of owning a Porsche in the UK I doubt you'd be financially satisfied.

There is a company in Harrow - I think it is called Reap Automotive Design - who will re-face your dials. I am told that they charge £80 for one or £250 for the complete set and their turn round is 1 to 2 weeks. I haven't spoken to them yet, but they will be getting mine at some stage this winter.

Hi David
Another option is http://www.paspeedo.com/porschecustomcoloring.htm they will do any colour you want in MPH. good quality and great service.
just be careful I broke my speedo while changeing the face on mine! ouch
I got an VDO MPH one with the KPH on the inner perfect.
this is the silver version for the 993 which I belive is the same as 964. as you can see on the pic its in MPH

Just my personal opinion but I'd avoid Paulo Alto. They had my speedo to fix the gearing in it this summer. Original estimate of 2 week turn around ended up as 2 months which included the nice week we had in the UK which some people refer to as "summer"

Hi stewart sorry to hear that.
they sent my speedo face really quickly and I broke my speedo doing it. so I sent the whole lot to them and recived it all back in around 14 days working perfectly. seems they have let their service slip regarding repairs. probably still ok if he only wants the dial faces though.

I used NHS to repair more than fifty 964/993 clocks - no complaints.
I used Palo Alto one time and was disappointed in how long it took to have one instrument repaired. It was like pulling teeth in the end...
