I only own one J car (2.5 STi wagon) and love it - very fast - no more or less reliable or expensive to maintain (one engine rebuild jdm 2.0 to us2.5 STi).
Horses for courses, I just consider myself fortunate to enjoy both (with the invaluable help of friendly forums - what did we do before the internet?).
p.s. I also have a French car
