I too was forced to finally retire the 17" (Cup 1's) summer tires for the D90 winters yesterday. What else are you going to do on a snowy sunday afternoon
It's amazing what a difference the winter tires make to the overall handling of the car - it really is like driving a different beast: Sliding through corners, Green PDAS light on half the time, and of course SUV's and Subarus are stunned when you take them off the line on sheer ice
(of course this IS Canada - it's like this all the time )

Mounted the snows, too, though this is last year's pic. I find the C4 to be a surprisingly capable winter driver.

Wow nice pictures...........You guys are brave.....Mine never has or I hope never will see snow. I finally got a daily driver to help out.

Luckily New Jersey does not get tooo much snow. If it snows, it is usually gone with a few days.........

I am eagerly awaiting the first snows..The car is new to me this summer. I have the D90's mounted (Normally using Cup1's in the summer)..but I haven't bothered with the winter tires... I have a set of Arctic Alpins in the shed.. and I know snow tires are a good idea.. but not sure its worth the remounting... What's on there are all-season Toyo Proxes T1-S...

Do you think its worth the remounting charge to get the snows on? Oregon doesnt see much snow.. but the two times it does it really messes up the city...

I change to snows because we do get a fair amount of it and because my summer tires have a bit more than big wheel grip when it gets cold! Remember those three wheel plastic trikes that spun down the street when we were kids? It's a bit less fun in the p-car!

So....
How good is the C4 compared to say a newer subi in the Snow?

Musing on my next purchase and If i could take it on the Alcan rally which is in Feburary to alaska and the Yukon (Ice Roads )

is there any way to get a block heater in one? (or one for the oil tank and one for engine)

so the oil does not get way cold and slugish and refuse to start in -30 degree weather overnight.
Remember i am talking about the artic circle in Feburary here.

it might not be needed at all really, it was a thought though

You could make like the soldiers in the USSR... in Siberia they'd light a fire under the engines of the heavy trucks for a couple hours before starting them.... or keep it idling all the time... ;-)
