Default Dyno curve

Hi

I think it was November last year that I last drove my car, and the collection of the vehicle is imminent. Ninemeister have kindly sent over the dyno printout of the phoenix that went up in flames last year but has now arisen from the ashes (almost literally). Its a bit difficult to see the max figures, but the torque curve looks substantially improved to me.....hmmm...now what was that phrase again 'running in'....

And you are worried that the paintwork is faded? Who cares when it has an engine like that!

Paintwork, I'd worry about those mirrors first ;-P

Ah yes....the mirrors....again

I think I really want to get the seats swapped out. I am thinking Cobra Misano's - how comfortable are these and will they fit a big guy..?

That looks really good

What's the spec? If it's long and probably in another post, can point me in that direction.

Actually its a slightly new spec, but it has Motec (with knocklink!!), 9M 3.8 pistons, 9M 310degree race cams, carillo's, ported heads, machined case, RS flywheel/clutch, larger injectors. It currently runs standard exhaust with catbypass and cup pipe. It also has LSD but that doesn't affect power though.... I can't think of anything else right now......It doesn't really like (or didn't use to like) full throttle in any gear above 1st at under 2500rpm or so, you kind of squeeze the power in rather than just floor it. I obviously need to drive it again to gauge if that has changed and whether it is noticeably more rapid than before. It looks like the HP has gone up by 10 or so, but the torque curve looks meatier with 460nM or so instead of the 425 or so I had before. I guess I will see tomorrow! I will try to do a writeup and maybe gets some pics/video if I can.

It'll be interesting to get your driving thoughts (once it's run in ) and how it delivers the power etc. Was it 3.8 before or is that part of the works that have just been carried out.

Mines 3.8 too as you'll probably know, with Roock cams (i'll have to try and find out which) so I'm wondering if there could be more to come from mine - out the way I'm about to dive down this slipper slope again........

Christer,

Good to see your 964 back up to snuff. And beyond. Thanks for sharing all of your work. It's good to see another reaching out there.

As for the flags, I rather like them. Maybe we could do a swap. :-)

Best,

Actually, according 9M dyno - the peak figures are 371hp and 461Nm. The drive home was entertaining - it is definitely a bit quicker. I need to get some sleep, maybe I will come up with something useful to write

p.s it was 3.8 before but it was the 3.8 Cup pistons, not the 9M ones...mine melted....

I also have a custom 9M airintake instead of the Airbox, although whether 9M still do that these days I have no idea (could be they have moved on from that)...

Colin will be able to tell you whether more is possible from your car - what are you at powerwise now?

p.p.s. - the car looks terrible - one front wing i terribly faded due to oxidisation.

Colin has some new and interesting intakes. I know he'll bring them forward.
This is where it all starts.

Christer

You may well know the car as Michael Hinchcliffs. At the last dyno, after the conversion was done, and before I got the car, it was 306bhp and 295lb/ft although looking at the figures the losses used seemed too small so it could be a bit more.

Having made enquiries with JZM it seems that the barrels and pistons were original 3.8 RSR, camshafts Porsche Cup part No 993 105 246 70 & 993 105 247 70, 1992> inlet manifold and reprogrammed ECU, no cylinder head modification. (Would anyone be able to tell me or point me in the right direction for more info on the cams?). So it sounds like a good set up
