wish me luck!

Ah funny funny guy.
So I finally got the starter project done. I owe a huge beer to Rick for getting to that back bolt. I did not drop the engine, nor was I brave enough to try it. Rick could get his hands back there, which we needed more than we thought.
I get home, and went right to work. since the help understanding the wires from all yesterday, I figured I'd just tighten down the black/red combo, and the yellow wire. Tighten down the white wire too, and be good to go. Damn! the nut doesn't fit the pole for the yellow wire. What gives? I'm putting it in the same spot as the old starter, same nut ought to work. Go to my extra nuts and find nothing that works. go to auto parts store and buy 2 sizes, hope one works. Get back home, put nut on. Tighten all other wires down, and Rick suggests I try it before putting the drive shaft back on. Find keys, insert into ignition, and turn. Battery hooked up just before turning key. Click- only accessories, no starter
So WTF!!! Crawl under with hammer, and bang on starter while Rick turns key. Nothing. figure I got a bad starter and pull the dang thing back out.
We look at new starter, and compare to old. New starter is a 4-post on the selenoid, and the old was a 3-post. Rick remembers drawing from Jason, and light goes on. We tried the starter with my battery charger to make sure starter is good. We touched all poles, and confirmed what Jason drew. The top post had to be the yellow, not the bottom like the old one was.
Put the dang thing back in, and get all wires hooked up. Remember- Rick has the dextrous hands to get that back nut. We got all wires hooked up, and connect battery also. Insert key, and turn- Vrrrooom!
so- the old starters are different than the new and anyone trying this should pay attention to the drawings.
Huge Thanks to all who contributed to the success of this project. I'll appreciate it more on Saturday when I don't have to worry if the car will start in the middle of nowhere.

Subject:
Starter Connections Changed
ATTENTION:
Service Manager/Service Technician
Models Affected:
911 Turbo, 1991-on
911 C2/C4, 1990-on
Concern:
A new starter with a different terminal configuration on the solenoid is now available for all manual transmission 911 C2/C4 from 1990- on and 911 Turbo from 1991- on.
General Information:
The new starter was introduced into production in 911 Turbo vehicles as of engine number 61M 01765. The new version starter has an additional terminal (15A, required for mixture enrichment during the starting cycle) on the solenoid, and positioning of terminals 50 and 30 also differ from the former version starter (Figure 1).
Repair Information:
When installing the new version starter, Part Number 965 604 104 00, into vehicles, proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect the vehicle battery.
2. On vehicles which do not have the new version starter as original equipment, the protective covering around the starter cable harness must be cut back 15cm and removed.
3. Route the starter cable as shown in Figure 1. (Terminal 50 must be routed exactly as shown by dotted line.)
4. Seal the opening of the protective covering around the starter cable harness with electrical tape.
5. Reconnect battery and perform any necessary radio recoding and/or system adaptation.
6. Be sure starter cables do not contact any items which could chafe the cables.
