oil pressure sender leak
Well my oil pressure sender has started leaking. The leak is coming from under the brass dome as best I can tell. Anyone else had this?

I did mine easily by removing the intake air filter asembly. While you have it out you may want to replace the O ring as shown in the pic. That is where my leak was. Be very careful not to drop anything into the open hole as it goes directly into the engine.

Yeah, I plan just to take the Air box off and get to it. My leak is actually coming from the sender itself and not from the o-ring under the mounting plate. Brand new sender two years ago.

I wonder whether your "new" sender has worked loose?
The other common thing is for the pressure switch to leak, right at the top where its terminal is located.

CraigC, do you happen to still have the dimensions of the O-ring you replaced?
I think mine is leaking too, and my dealer has nothing in stock ... so I'm hoping I can source one at my local bearing supplier.
Many thanks,

Gregg,
Sorry I dont have the demenstions for the O ring. I suggest you call another Porsche dealer or try Sunset in Oregon http://www.sunsetimports.com/porscheparts.php This rubber part has to withstand a lot of heat and Porsche has a special green (vitron?) o ring that is heat resistant. The black one I took off my car was very brittle and flat on the inside due to the engine heat it was subjected to which is what caused the leak. Good luck with your leak!

Well, it was loose. But in taking off the air box, two of the studs came out of the throttle chamber box. See pic above. Then the rubber bumper had to be cut in two to remove the airbox. Seeems the previous person to do this put threadloacker on the threads. Idiots. You don't need threadlocker with locking nuts.
So now I need to get a new bumper and a 24 mm crow foot to tighten the sender.
