Default CV Grease

I'm changing my CV Boots and have found that the Porsche grease is $25 per tube (at Sunset rates!) and I'll need 4, or more, to do the job.

Is there a suitable substitute at a more reasonable price?

I was just searching for Swepco 101 and found it on Pelican.

I also saw the CV Boots (image below) at 1/10th the price of Genuine Porsche parts from Sunset.

The boots alone from sunset are $283.84.

Pelican looks to be $38.00

Admittedly, 6 of them are Loebro, not Porsche, but for $250 do I care?!

Are the Porsche boots really that much better?

It looks like the MSRP on the boots is $33.27/each.

I ordered mine from EBSRacing for around $4/each.

I bought GKN/LOEBRO kits for the rear of my C2. I picked em up on ebay for $18. The item number was
250135246759 (I always have trouble linking to ebay auctions). I could have just bought the boots for $4 but I decided to get the kits as they included the grease and the tension rings. I knew I needed the grease and the bands are nice in case I screwed up the old ones in removal.

My experience is with the rears, so prices and things may be different for fronts.

I bought the Loebro kit from EBS. Was happy with the quality and it came with grease as I recall.

Thanks guys. I've order the Loebro kit from EBS along with the ties, bolts and misc bits. Saved ~$250 over p-parts. Wow.

EBS seems to have good prices. After looking at their catalog online I see that I could have saved a few bucks if I had bought my kit from them. Thanks for pointing them out!

Through it will cost you more, the best CV grease you should buy is Krytox GPL 297.
