How to change dial on dash instruments?
Gentlemen,
the dial of the oil pressure / oil temp gauge on my car is in quite a bad condition, with the warning light icons flaking heavily.
Could anybody lead me to a description how to take the instrument apart to swap the dial with a replacement?
Thanks for your help!

It's simply a case of taping up or wrapping a soft cloth around a flat blade screwdriver and using it under the dial rim to pry it out a bit and then pull it out.
You will probably get away without removing the steering wheel although I had to do this when changing the rev counter.

Steve,
taking out the instrument from the dashboard is no issue. I presume that is what you describe. What I am worried about is how to get the dial out of the instrument without wrecking anything in the process.
Do I need to losen any screws to remove the crystal of the instrument?

Before you do anything, I'd make sure you can get the gauge face (if you don't have it).
According to North Hollywood Speedometer, VDO is no longer making the OEM gauge face for the oil combo gauge, as VDO claims the 993 face will work (but it is slightly different in that the warning lights don't line up properly).
When I sent mine to NHS to reface, they said they going to have to have the OEM faces reproduced on their own.

Thank you, gentlemen! Excellent help, everything answered!
Now I just have to make sure I do not damage anything in the process - or rather let my mechanic do the job...
