Thumbs up DIY Complete - Thanks

I am sending this out as a word or thanks to all who contribute to this forum, especially the technical advisors. With extensive use of the Search function, I have just completed my first DIY tune-up, including oil, valves, caps & rotors, filters, etc., etc. The whole thing came off without a hitch and only one unscheculed trip to the parts store, (replacement exhaust bolt).

thanks again,
LD

Congrats. Isn't it a good feeling to not open the wallet and see all your money float into the mechanics wallet?

I huge part of my decision to by my car was this forum. I just my few weeks of ownership it has helped me out tremendously. It gives me the feeling there is nothing I can't do to fix my 964.
I am doing my best to document all my fixes so I can contribute into the knowledge base stored here.

It runs noticeably better. And of course feels much better because I know it was done right.

I know, I still owe pictures and am sadly delinquent in this category. I'll try to address this soon.

Fayettville Arkansas?? My Brother lives there and my Dad in Rogers. I get down there a few times a year - once in the fall for Porsche-Palooza. Did you attend last fall? You've got some great roads right in your backyard.

On the valve adjust, how long did it take you? Did you remove the exhaust to do it?

Hildy911,

To adjust your valves you must remove the exhaust from the catalyst back. I've just completed my first valve adjustment, and it took me quite a while to do so. When I do it again, it will be in the winter when the car is off the road for the season. That way I won't miss precious warm weather driving time, plus I'll get some nice bonding time with the car when the roads are salted.

The whole job was about 16 hours spread over two days. I did have to remove part of the exhaust; only one side as I have a G-pipe on the other.

I missed Porshe Palooza last year would have loved to seen the selection of P-cars. We have some excellent roads in this part of the country, and I am on them most any weekend. Let me know when you head this way, I can give you some good routes, or even take a cruise.
