(Updated with Pic...) Steering wheel fitted but not aligned?!

Hey all,
I fitted the Momo steering wheel this week... but notice that when I am driving in a straight line the wheel is slightly pointing to the right?!
Now, it's not that I mounted the wheel wrong, as if I moved all the bolts that mount it around by one it would be way out of line.....
The Momo fitting kit only goes on one way and has no adjustment right?
Also, how easy would it be for my mechanic to correct the problem at the wheels/steering rack next time he has it for a service? He's a good independent mechanic.
Thanks a million,
Adrian

If the 964 column is like any other car, then you just need to take the steering wheel hub off (one big bolt at the centre) and move it probably one or two splines around.
Watch out when you're trying to pull the wheel off that you don't smack yourself in the face with it!

Adrian,
If the original steering wheel was straight before you changed to the Momo wheel it's unlikely to need any tracking adjustment. The boss (the bit that slides on to the column) has splines so it's easy to move the wheel around by a single spline at a time - either left or right. You do not make the adjustment via the (6?) mounting screws.
Hope that helps.

Thanks.... There is like a metal tab that was at the end of the boss that I thought was the part fitted into a guide on the steering column.... so that right to left adjustment was not possible??
Do you know what I mean?
Also, I found it tough to use the metal "washer" that came with the kit... as in this picture. The horn and centre plastic assembly of my steering wheel was a bit larger then the middle of this large washer!

I don't think so - the boss should just have a splined fitting at one end - and you rotate it around the column to align it up correctly. I wouldn't have thought that there would be any kind of tab that meant it only went on one way... if that was the case, then even the standard wheel would get out of alignment (and have no way of being corrected) if you had your tracking adjusted.

Yes. that's right - and you just take the boss back off and rotate it a couple of splines until the wheel is aligned to your liking (ie straight!).

Thanks a million guys. I think I wind myself up when doing mods to my 964 as it's my complete pride and joy and my first Porsche.
Cheers for your help.
Due to the fact that I have refitted the wheel a couple if times and so the SILVER Allen screws that came with the wheel are starting to round their heads. Can I buy from you the SILVER allen screws that come with that wheel only from anyone do you know? They appear to be part of the wheel and am doubtful that anyone will be able to sell em seperate

Leave the big nut on a few threads while pulling at it. then remove it when loose.

Alternatively take one of your screws (as a sample) to you local fastener supply specialist. They'll be able to get them for you. They're just a socket headed counter sunk metric screw. 4 or 5 mm I think. Good Luck.

When you undo the wheel from the splined boss, leave the locking bolt on with a few threads. This will stop you from smashing your face when you try to get it off. It normally sits pretty tight on the splines so you have to use your muscle power, and then it suddenly just pops of.
