Default Does anyone elses car beep at them?

On occasion, seemingly only in the early morning, after my car warms up and is driven for a few miles all the dash lights will go on an it will Beep-Beep-Beep nonstop at me. For the most part, if I pull over and shut it off and then fire it back up it will clear itself and run normally although twice now it has done it and when re-fired the CEL came on. I took it to the mechanic both times and he read the fault as the Hall Sensor in the distributor. Lately however, it just does the light & Beep thing and no CEL. Anyone have experience with something similar? I wonder if I change the Hall Sensor it will stop but it is my understanding that I need to get a whole new distributor for that.... ugh. Thanks

Not likely the Hall Sensor. That's just a side effect.

Sounds like the "Christmas Tree Effect" which is caused by stray voltage.

Check your distributor wires in the dark with a light mist of water. If you see blue sparks then you have the source. It could be you need new wires.

Thanks guys.

Also, I noticed my blinkers have been acting up, on occasion if I hit the left blinker the Hi Beams go on/off and they no longer stay on, I have to hold them. Could this all be related to a connection in the steering wheel or column? Any experiences??? THanks again!

New Coils/Coil leads solved the very same problem on my car. It was more pronounced with headlights on. i think it's been almost 2 years with no hint of it returning.

Mine beeped at me last weekend after a 2 hour drive, no warning lights though. And only at speeds over 70mph. It hasn't repeated since.

Weird.

Can anyone tell me which coil(s) I need to order? Looked at Pelican and there seems to be a few options? Also, do I need one or two? Thanks in advance

You need two.

Pelican sells OEM Bosch units that are made in Brazil.

You are better off spending the additional $25 each and going to Sunset Imports and getting the OE Porsche units.

944.602.115.00 ignition coil (qty 2) 77.18 each (sunset)

Sunset Imports 503.641.8600 or 800.346.0182

Thanks for the quick reply. Basically you're saying the OEM Porsche ones are better than the Bosch ones and therefore worth the difference in price?

OE= original equipment
OEM= original equipment manufacturer

My understanding is that Bosch manufactured the original ones for Porsche. If they make any other version they can still be called OEM since they made the originals. But the original design and manufacture process is supposed to be better. These are designated OE as they are the original equipment, not just made by the original equipment maker.

I hope that helps and someone correct me if I am wrong (naturally).

You need to determine if the stray voltage is coming from the wires or the coils before you order anything. In addition to the previously mentioned spray method you might want to manually check the ignition wires and boots/connectors for cracks. Your problem could be as simple as a $15 connector.

The same thing happened with my C2. After a lot of diagnostic time, they determined that it was a corroded coil wire. Others have had it happen with a cracked spark plug boot and shorting from the spark plug wires.
