Default C4 will not Idle

Sorry Guy's, seems I need you help again, during and after a longish run at "warp" speed, the engine will not idle, it simply cuts out. Makes life a bit difficult at roundabouts and traffic lights.
Occassional, during acceleration, she hesitates, but picks up OK. It would appear that prior to my buying the car, it has had a brand new Idle speed control valve fitted, is this relevant to my problem?
Any ideas, Any solutions ??
Cheers

Has the car been overfilled with oil?

That can foul the ISV and air intake so a cleaning may restore idle.

Check the O2 sensor, it might be bad. I had the same issue and after replaced the O2 sensor, there's no hesitation and it doesn't die while idling.

Does the car have a lightened flywheel?

Thanks for the info and advice, I have the car into the local PC for service and tune up, hopefully they can sort out the problem.

a similar question a week or so ago concerning no idle. check to see if the idle control microswitch is being activated when the throttle is released. if you do a search on this someone has posted pictures of this. also covered in adrians manual. the release of the throttle causes a little flange on the throttle control to depress the microswitch which is responsible for maintaining proper idle speed. had a similar problem 4 months ago, and a simple throttle cable adjustment solved it. good luck-----------tom

Or you could have a vacuum leak. Check that all vacuum lines are intact, no loose connections, splits, tears, etc. Also that the oil-filler cap is on tight.
