What makes this car rare, if it is genuine, is the fact it is road registered in Germany. The Carrera Cup cars were specifically not made road legal. However, whiule there may only be 4 road legal in Germany, I know of road legal cars in other countries.

This car seems VERY expensive!

Based on the photos (the engine has the blower motor) I would guess this is an RS club sport.

I don't have an exact count, but I don't think it's that rare to find a 964 Cup that was road registered in Germany. It was/is allowed there. It was the 993 Cup and later that is not allowed to be road registered.

I'm not sure about Canada, but a 964 Cup could not be road registered in the USA no matter what its status was in Germany.

The fellow mentioned to me that there would not be a problem registering it in Canada--and I thought Canada had similar registration issues as the US, but I am not sure. I believe he also mentioned that it is not a Club sport.

Yes, I wish we owned canada trader.... it does not work as well as our site...

Funny thing is many canadians list their car on our site anyway... but they all use the same zip code.... and they all know it is a canadian car.

I work for AutoTrader

I think if you click the link and then browse around a little the site will drop a cookie, then go back to the link and it will work. Worked for me.

We can register just about anything older than 15 yrs in Canada so '92 models are OK now.

I expect we'll see a few more RS's being imported from Europe.

Several of the cups already in the USA were registered for road use in Germany at one time (mine, Jupeman's, Henk's, etc).

OK, I have checked things out and here is the situation. Cup cars were not built to be road legal and as such, could not be registered for road use..................but they were! It needed extra work being done and this was not offered as standard by Porsche. However, they did do this for a very few cars and once done, others followed. So, very few (probably only 2) were road registered from new but since then, others have been converted for road use. I am therefore sceptical of the "4" claim!

However, I do know that at least one of the road legal cup car has the heater rather than the bypass pipe so this car could be a cup car.

A Cup car does not say Carrera RS on the rear which is further indication that is is the M003 option, not M001.

While I am sceptical of how genuine this car is, I know of a cup car now in the UK with the Carrera RS badge on the back. Maybe retro-fitted?
