Default Cup 1's - What size?

My car is on D90's. I want to change to Cups 1 wheels. I have seen a set for sale.

Q: They say front 17 X8 / Back 17 X10. Should they not be the same front & rear?

Q: Do i need to fit spacers or will they go straight on?

Thanks
Derek

A: That's a very rare combo for cup cars, IIRC. Because your car is not a VW You have a RWD, rear engined Porsche, you need more rubber in the back.
A: Depends on what year your car is, but with those sizes you will definitely need modifications - spacers up front, and/or install 10mm steering stops and spacers in the rear along with flattening the oil line. You may need to roll your fenders as well.

Where did you find those wheels?

Those aren't factory wheels. The factory cup 1's only came in 7 or 8 inch widths for the fronts and 9 inch width for the rears. 7 & 9's are ET 55.

I think there were also 7.5jx17 with et55 and et65 (part # 965 362 124 15 and 05). Plus ... there were 9.5j17 with et68 (part # 965 362 128 05). I really like the Cup I wheels ... but they were all pretty heavy.

Stand corrected I believe the 7.5 was used on the GTS and must have the sensors to work.

This is the list as I know it not including the magnesium versions. Can't get them to line up but I think you will get the idea.

Hey, thanks Anthony. I just learned something because of your post. I've long wondered about the difference between the two 8jx17s. Now I know that at least one difference is that one weighs 22.0462 #s and the other weighs 23.36897 #s. I'm still wondering why Porsche made two so similar wheels. I suspect the same is true for the 7s, 7.5s and 9s (?) but haven't done the math. Hmmmm.....

Anthony ... would you please elaborate on this. What GTS? And sensors are you referring to?

Cobalt, would you happen to have weights for the Cup II wheels? It would be interesting to see how they compare size for size with the Cup I's.
