Default Accelerometer

Hey all,

I've tried the various searches but im still at a loss as to where the accelerometer is located. Does anyone have a picture of where it hides?

It's in the transmision tunnel. On the drivers side (RHD car) there is a switch next to a small rectangular panel (in the carpeting). The panel is held in with two screws - remove the panel and there they are - although there is limited access doing it this way.

This is a pic of behind that carpeted flap in the tunnel. Where should it be?

The accelerometer looks like a relay - that's why you can't find it!

The one you want is bottom left in your pic.

Bottom left is my cobra alarm module thingy. So is the accelerometer behind that then? Looks like an awkward extraction if thats the case!

In my car there are two - one (longditudinal) roughly where your alarm thing is. And lateral - top right in your photo.

You do have a C4 don't you?

Only C4s have longditudinal accelerometers - hence the reason you can't find yours. You still have lateral I believe, which is the relay looking thing in your photo.

Thanks for the clear-up dave. I did a search for lateral accelerometer and apparently only a c2 tip has this. Normal c2's dont have any sensors, hence my problem finding one! Doesnt help my abs cutting in to early problem though!

The accelerometers are located on top of the transmission tunnel right by the bulkhead, under the carpeted section.
A C2 has one and a C4 has two.

Just trying to find a pic from when I deleted my centre console, will add shortly...

C4 definitely has/needs the two (lateral and horizontal). Mine shown below (one partially shown but can see the part #). Both 'flatter' looking than the small relays and both screwed to the console supporting frame. Think the C2 manual doesn't have/need one but the tip does have one (lateral). Someone will chime in soon I guess.

Just checked the wiring diagrams to confirm and I was slightly wrong
C4 has two.
C2 tiptronic has one.
C2 manual has none.
