Glad to know it's still state of the art to sport wooden car parts!

Seems logical to me, it's not often that trees come off worse when something drives into them !!

Of course, I'm always partial to carbon fibre

How many cars use wood in the ENGINE? I was surprised to learn a while ago after having owned Triumphs for years, that the TR6 engine has two small wedge shaped wooden shims in the front main oil seal bracket. And yes, they are original (they are listed in the parts catalog). If/when I ever rebuild, I'll have to replace them. Can't wait to see the look on the machinist's face when I ask him if he has a wood saw...

It was a sad day when the employee who actually used to make those parts finally retired.
I keep mine in the Cup car for purely sentimental reasons and would never replace it with aluminum or carbon fiber.

BTW, the new Corvette uses balsa wood in some parts of the bodywork.

Hey they use balsa wood sandwiched between Carbon Fiber in the new Z06's as a floorboard this is just a piece to hold carpet in place.

BTW I have a wood board factory piece if anyone is looking.

the Aluminium ones are actaully slightly heavier than the wood stock floor boards. (i sent mine back and am going with the cup car floor boards like geoffery's above, in Al initially.
they are very nice however and make a good replacement
