Default Rome, Italy to Gothenburg, Sweden (2400km)

I am moving back to Sweden after an expat contract in Italy. This will mean that I "have to" drive my C4 home to Sweden . My family will take a flight.
Now, what would you guys bring in addition to a complete toolkit:
-Adrian's book
-Spare DME relay (993.615.227.00)
-Fanbelt + AC belt
-Spare fuelpump (I already have a new, not changed yet)
-Ipod

What have I forgotten??

The car is serviced not long ago, runs great and feels very healthy and tight so I am not worried about this trip and I will drive carefully as always.

Cheers

To be honest - for a well maintained 964 it's really not that far. Last year, we had to visit my g/f's dad in France at short notice. I always carry a spare DME relay anyway - we just jumped in the car and went. It was about 1200 miles in total I think - had no problems whatsoever, and I'd happily do it again tomorrow.

This is one of the bizarre things about these cars. I was more sure my 964 would get me there and back trouble free than my (newer) daily driver, which we used a few months later to go back. I wanted to take the 964 because I had more confidence in it, but it wasn't possible on a limited mileage policy!

Well, I forgot most of the parts you're planning on bringing, except for the iPod, when I went on my 6000km roundtrip from Stockholm -> Cannes -> Nice -> Milan -> Stockholm...

We went flat-out on the german autobahn twice, and the car performed flawlessly!

If your car is well maintained as you say, then it shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't bring any more than the Ipod and my mastercard!

Yes, you are probably right, I do not have to plan that much. I have done longer trips than this but not in a 911, alone, 2 days.....I am probably just excited and eager to leave. Work and 2 kids makes these type of events rare these days I trust this car more than the old 911T -72 I had before.

Henrik, last year I drove from Le Mans to Lønstrup in one day, only stopping for fuel (3 times). I think it was around 1650kms and it took around 14 hours. Not a single problem and I would do it again in a heartbeat with only a Roadside assistance insurance and spare DME relay in my posession!

I think you will have a good time, although I would not recommend doing 1600+kms in one day in any car unless you really have to

p.s. - I stopped in Calais for 45 mins to drop a friend off, hence the low average speed

Nope, I left the car there for 3 months after that and then found that knock sensors are probably a good idea...so Henrik....remember your knock sensors..

Hi Henrik, I am going on an 1800 mile (3000kms) round trip to the south of France over four days at the end of May in my C4 and like you, looking forward to it enormously. I intend to simply take my spare dme, my RAC breakdown membership card and my credit card!

Cheers
Alex

On the way down to the South of France, there is an overhead motorway sign that congratulates you (using your registration number) for reaching such a good speed......

Really? Which raod is that on, I've driven down to the south coast dozens of times but never seen that.
However, because we're going in the 964 without the kids I am not intending to use any motorways. It'll be N roads mostly.....much more fun!

Cheers
Alex
