Default Distributor rebuild

I like to do things myself but I have decided to have my distributor rebuilt by others. Just sounds like a royal PIA and not to much fun if it goes off course...

This whole belt thing freaks me out...

So here is the BIG question.....where do I go with it. Does anyone do a swap program?

ANy help would be HUGE!

Thanks,

Brian

Its really not a big deal at all. The main thing is not to follow the original instructions on p-car.com or in Adrian's book that require you to remove the secondary shaft. Instead you want to follow the modified instructions that at most involves removing a pin and sliding the belt out, with hardly any dismantling of the distributor.

I did locate Mark and I will go ahead with him. I will report back on how it goes.

Jason thanks for the info, I did locate the thread. If I get it out and feel adventerous you never know but for the moment a little shipping and a couple of bucks sounds good.

I used Mark as well (no affiliation). He does good work with quick turnaround - a day or two for mine.

There are certainly many success stories with a number of DIY write-up's. I would be interested to know if there are any horror stories where a DIY belt replacement went wrong.

Again for $150 cost of the rebuild I wont be writing any horror stories.

I remember when i was a kid and I went to rebuild my holly carb...then I remember ordering up a brand new one. Small parts and pieces are not my area of expertise. Makes me want to kill something....just kidding but i tend to become impatient with small parts.

How tricky is it to reinsert the rebuilt distributor to make sure it is exactly in the right position? Any precautions?

I found tha hardest part was feeding the electrical connector back through with out damaging the brittle little wires that have been baking for the last 17 years.
