Seat Weights...Suprised?
Thought you'd find interesting that:
1. Standard leather trim seat 4 way elect....52lbs
2. Standard cloth RSA sport seat 4way elect.....50lbs
3. Leather Recaro 964 Speedster seat.....30lbs
All seats weighed w/sliders.
Be interested to know:

2. Weight of Recaro pole position leather w/sliders
Thought the RSA seats would weigh less!

In response to Anato:
The RSA was LIGHTER, CHEEPER, AND FASTER than the C2. Given the choice, in 1993, there was NO REASON to buy a C2 in my opinion. Unless you needed power steering, mirrors, rear seats, etc. I figure this should start an argument
In todays market I feel lucky to still have my RSA..............I believe what several people on this board say. That you could buy a C2 and have tons of money left for upgrades...........
But back then - it was the way to go - and I have loved mine since day one.......
Flagg

Flagg, especially when you consider in 1993 the RSA was $10,000 less money than the C 2 and has held its value much better than the standard C 2. Nowadays the C 2 is a better buy and the difference between the C 2 and the RSA could be used to make many desirable mods.

Jet, could you weigh it w/the rails? I wanted to do the comparo w/rails as the stock seats don't take kindly to trying to remove them. Plust gives a more comprehensive figure on what's actually going in the car. That why I posted my 964 Speedster w/rails. Many thanks.
There is no need to weigh it with rails as we know the weight of my seats with rails - 30.5 lbs. As the rails etc are the same, we just take the difference between our seats off that figure to give the answer.
I guess the real point of my post is to point out that the weight of the runners etc is 12 lbs.

It does raise an interesting question about mounts. I have always taken as fact the weight of the 964RS seat plus runners/mounts being 30.5 lbs. I have seen this from a few sources. However, this implies, based on the weight of my seat, that the stock runners and mounts weigh 12 lbs. This seems high.
I think what would be most useful would be to weigh each seperately. This could be relevent as I know, for example, that the metal Recaro mounts weight 1.1kgs (2.42 lbs) and the carbon fibre ones weigh 0.34kgs (0.75 lbs).
