Default Stalling, hesitation - try this

Like a lot of owners I've experienced these problems and have followed the advice given by members i.e. MAF etc etc. Having eliminated most of the usual suspects I decided to renew my lambda sensor even though it was not logging any faults. The difference has been amazing. I know it is recommended that they are changed every 60,000 miles but with no faults and passing emission controls you'd have thought all was well. So if you're still looking for the answer try changing this part (don't buy a cheap alternative, get the real thing) . Power delivery is now spot on but the real benefit is at take off and you should improve your mpg so it will pay for itself. Changing the sensor should take an hour if the old one comes out cleanly and there are threads on this subject. Mine was installed cross threaded so it took me a week to get the old one out and just 30 minutes to replace. Anybody else found this was their cure?

Great idea--I am going to do the same. Here is a good write-up (for dummies like me) to understand the issues:

For a $100 seems like cheap insurance and if my 1991 C4 runs better....well its well worth it. Just one more thing I can put in my file as done!

I did not have any hesitation problems but replacing mine did fix the hot start problems I was having.

I would, in addition, do an ecu reboot to introduce the "virginal" new lambda sensor to fuel maps.
