We use a variety of sources for images of the original cars (models, picts, video). We then have to redraw each graphic as a vector that can be cut. Then the vinyl is then cut, "weeded", masked and applied. Total time per car is roughly 60-80 hours.


Bob, I'm not doing either Mid Ohio or HC. I am taking a new job in April, so I need to limit my vacation . Who knows, maybe it will go better than planned and I'll be able to sneak away for this.

Who would I be racing at a DE?

I like the racing format better and given events at about the same time, I will almost always choose a race over a DE.

You can never have enough practice, but another two days at the Glen isn't going to be the difference for me at the Glen race.

There will be more Cups at the Glen race than the DE, anyway. Tell me why the magazine article is being done at a mid-week DE? If you want pictures of my car for the article, anyway, I'll send you some nice RACE pics (not DE pics... ) from MO. The invite email also noted the Cup gathering at the race, btw...



CWay27, Colin covered our livery re-creation process. It is time consuming. Bob's car above (the USA Cup in recent pictures), was an original design.

Charlie, I chose the Advanced DE event to write the article since there are several Cup owners who do not race their cars, and others that may not race with PCA. I thought the venue provided the best opportunity to get the most Cup cars in one place. In addition, I needed an event where I was free to use the track for some pictures and since my region is hosting the event, it made it easier. Further, I thought that during a race weekend people might have other things on their mind other than picture taking and magazine article writing. That was my reasoning.

As Charlie said, my car was an original design out of necessity as there were no original sponsor liveries for the series that never got off the ground in the USA. My intent, and Colin and Charlie got it right for me, was to include the original graphics for the series sponsors (Toyo, etc.) but include a business in which I am a partner as if it had sponsored the car in the series had it happened in '92, etc.

Colin and Charlie - great work on Bob's car - looks great! Once I get all of the old vinyl off of my C2 racer, I'll want to pick your brains for ideas.

So how many are confirmed? Just got my reservation confirm from the Falls Hotel yesterday! Racing at Mid-Ohio the weekend of 4/21 and then off to WGI in May!
