Default Dual exhaust on a 964?

Has anyone done this?

Got pictures?

I reallay like the *** end of the 993.....the 964 would look almost as good with 2 pipes I imagine!

Thanks!

Thanks anyway...

Brian,

There's not many N/A 964's you'll find with a factory dual outlet exhaust - in fact, none. Only the Turbo had the dual outlet - and even that isn't what it seems since the left one is only the waste gate outlet.

Mine is a Fabspeed dual outlet although the rear bumper is a non-standard Strosek look-alike which only comes with dual outlet cut outs.

Regards

Dave

YES thats the "look" I want the single out lacks personality and the dual outlet is a must for me.

I owned a 96 993 and I love the rear on that car.

Thanks for the pic....

I know of 2 different factory 964 dual exhaust setups, neither was on a regular production car, 964RS l/w and 964 3.8RS

964RS l/w

964 3.8RS

Neither will be redily available.

Why wouldnt a custom exhaust shop be able to fab one?

I know somw people use "flowmasters" on there cars. We have an awesome shop nearby. I have used then on my american cars.

Just curious if there is any reason not to do this?

That is a DIY mod... The Roadster originally came with exhaust on the drivers side only... The exhaust is made by Fabspeed... You have to purchase and paint the Turbo right side bumper cover...

When you do the mod , does that eliminates the large secondary muffler on the pax side?

Steve,

It depends - there are a few ways to get the dual outlet. The Fabspeed solution, as I have, replaces both the primary AND secondary mufflers with their own single rear muffler which has a choice of single or dual outlet.

A company in the UK - Essential Styling - have a version which uses the equivalent of a Cup Pipe, i.e. a straight through pipe, to connect directly from the cat to the secondary muffler and then they replace the single outlet with a pipe which provides dual outlets, connected via another pipe which runs in parallel across the back of the car. The two pipes have to be used together since there is no room for the dual outlet if the primary muffler is retained.

An alternative would be to use a system similar to the 993 where each bank of cylinders has it's own dedicated exhaust - but that's another story.

Regards

Dave

BTW - the standard exhaust on the Roadster would normally be on the PASSENGER side if you are considering a US LHD car.

Does anyone know what the fabspeed dual outlet muffler weighs compared to JUST the OEM primary muffler. I currently have a secondary bypass and still have the OEM primary and was curious is there were further weight savings possible going with fabspeed or the like.

Greg,

The Fabspeed web site (http://www.fabspeed.com/964C2_C4_RS.html) quotes a saving of 42lbs but I'm guessing that's the saving after eliminating BOTH the original primary AND secondary mufflers. I've no idea of a direct comparison with the primary only.

Dave

Steve,

Are they custom tips on your Fabspeed??? Mine came with oval tips and, because of my shortened bumper, I'd like to get some shorter ones manufactured.

Regards
