Unhappy 225/45/17 tyres rubbing at the front !?!?

Just put 225/45/17 tyres up front with 5MM spacers

The offset of the wheels is 52, which is correct

But the tyres are rubbing the outside part...

I will take the spacers out, but I am afraid the tyres will start rubbing on the inside part

I am waiting to get 10MM steering stops

Should I better go with 205/50/17 tyres ?

Are they rubbing while driving straight over bumps or only during spirited turns?

Both...

Bumps: surely it will hit the outside

Spirited driving: less, but also

Or should I go with 215/45/17 tyres ?

Don't go to 215/45 in the fronts unless you are also planning on reducing the overall diameter on the rears also. Since you are running a C4, I would try to stay with 205/50 or 225/45 on the fronts and 255/40 for the rears. The rolling diameter matching is important on a 4WD car.

If I recall, stock 17's are ET55 for F/R and not ET52. Are you running 17x7 ET52 in the fronts? If so, you are extending the wheel out by ~8mm over ET55, when you use the 5mm spacer. If you are running 17x7.5 ET52 with 5mm spacer, you are extending your wheel by ~14mm over 17x7 ET55 factory wheel. Perhaps that is the cause of the rubbing, along with the added width of the tread.

Hope I am making sense, because sometimes I can't even understand what I saying

Are your fenders rolled? How much negative camber up front?

+1 on the camber, that would certainly have an effect on the rubbing.

Don't know about the camber...

But yes, 7.5" width wheels, ET52 with 5MM spacers

Maybe taking away the spacers will solve the problem, but I will have to get the 10MM steering stops instead, correct ?

Maybe it is time for an alignment and take the opportunity to possibly enhance your handling. Since you are running 7.5 ET52, I would take away the spacer if you are rubbing on the outside. 5mm might not seem like much, but it helps. As for the steering stop, I don't have any experience in that since my 964 is a widebody and using 965 suspension.

It seems the best is going for 205/50/17 tyres up front, right ?

Which tire brand? One would think they are all the same size but they are not.

I run 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear on Cup II wheels, ET55 for both. Other then the aforementioned huge *** turning radius...no problems or rubbing anywhere with a lowered suspension.

Speaking of tires, I just got a set of 225/40/17 and 275/40/17s
will there be any issues there?

I have 205s on the front with lowered suspension and a get rubbing on the inside on full lock. Steering stops should fix but then as mentioned you'd get a huge turning circle!

The overall diameter variance is too great, definitely a no-go for C4's. There is nearly a 7% delta between the 225/40 and 275/40.
