The other alternative would be to get a 94C4 and convert it to a C2 which would be easy enough to do, especially if I wanted to install a 6spd.
Really? I thought this was pretty complicated on a 964 and much easier on a 993.

To go with the aerodynamic ! wide body you will also need turbo rear suspension arms etc, etc.
Why bother ??

The widebody does not require turbo suspension arms. All of the factory 964 race cars use the narrow body control arms. The front arms are effectively the same, only mounted in the widebody position in the chassis. The rears narrow body suspension allows for wider tires which is why they were used in the factory race cars.

Switching from C4 to C2 is certainly easier on a 993, but it is not difficult on a 964.

That is interesting about the rear control arms fitting larger wheels in the narrow body form... how much larger of a wheel does the narrow body control arm permit?

This is exactly what I want to do to my car.

I have come to the conclusion my car is worthless anyways. Its an 89 with 200,000 km. I might as well hack it up and make it into the widebody I want it to be. (WAY WAY WAY cheaper than trying to sell it and find a widebody car, and bring it into canada) Not to mention I just finished putting the motor back into mine and I have to get a few years use out of that before getting rid of the car.

I was going to compile a complete list of wide body parts that would be necessary. But if someone has already done this, it would be a great time to post it and save me all the work!

My car has to go in for paint, and the d.s. rear frame rail is not straight. Its going to need some work. My rear reflector doesnt sit in properly because of it as well. (amazing what you find in a supposedly accident free car)

I think the largest wheel you can fit on a C2 Turbo is 10.5" with a 285 on it. My racecar with the narrow body trailing arms has a 12" wheel and can fit a 305 slick which is more like a 335 street tire. The factory 964 RSRs came with 11.5" wheels in the rear with Euro RS trailing arms with factory monoballs.

When looking at a potential chassis, you need to have it inspected for damage. It isn't that hard to identify when a car was repaired, but it usually takes someone with experience in body repair, and one who is specialized in Porsches helps.

Now that sounds like a fun little car. Shorten up the gear ratios, find a little more HP...it never ends!

Geoff

I've got first dibs when the wife gets tired of this one. I'll just start collecting her old cars!
