Default Need some advice on wheels & tires C4 1990

My C4 is lowered at the front. The wheels are 17" turbo look.
9JX17H2 ET47 at the rear end 9JX8H2 ET47 at he front. No spacers.
No trouble with rubbing. Need new tires. The ones fitted are
Kumho Ecsta Supra 255/40ZR17 94W and 215/45ZR17 87W.
Are these wheel dimensions OK for the C4?
Any suggestions on tires in 17"?

A few questions. Were you happy with your old tires? If not, what did you like and not like about them? Will your driving be the same as before or are you switching from street driving to track driving?

For street tires, I have had best luck with the N-rated tires. Currently, I'm running 205/50-17 and 255/40-17 Michelin Cup tires. I would start my seach with the N-rated tires available in your area.

I bought the car in october, drove about 1000 miles before changing to 16" winter tires. As the tires were worn i have no idea if they suited the car or not. The rear tires were ready for the scrap bin, the front ones not too bad. As this is a C4 i will change all 4 of them. I will not do any track driving. Is 255/40-17 and 215/45-17 suitable for a C4?

Those tire sizes are fine. The factory 17" sizes are 205/50-17 and 255/40-17. However, some people on Rennlist run larger sizes. When you go larger you have to be very careful to watch for rubbing. Are you having any problems with the front tires?

No signs of rubbing on the front tires. The wear on the rear ones are uneven on inner and outer part of the tire, something i guess is normal on a Porsche?

My local tire supplier adviced 205/50-17 or 225/45-17 on the front instead of 215/45-17 as they are closer to the 255/40-17 rear tyre diameter.

My rear tires wear faster than the fronts (~50% faster). You may want to have your alignment checked. For a while, I was auto-crossing the car and was running a "competition alignment". This put some toe-out in the rear and helped turn the car. The unfortunate side affect was that it wore the rear tires really fast. I have switched back to the factory alignment specs and my tire life has improved.

As for tire sizes, it sounds like you are happy with the 215/45 size on the front. So I would say stick with it. What brand and model of tires have you selected?

Nobody has mentioned it yet, but I'm guessing you made a typo on the front wheel size. 9J is WAYYY too big for the front and the ET47 isn't too good either. Normal front wheel would be a 7 or 7 1/2 with the 205 or 215 tyre. ET should be around the 50 or a little more.

Yes i must have slept for a moment there.
8JX17H2 at the front, guess 225/45-17 would be better suited to the width of the wheel than 215/45-17.
9JX17H2 at the rear. All wheels are ET47.
As mentioned no rubbing, however my original 16" Design 90 wheels with winter tires 205/55-16 and 225/50-16 are just touching the body on the inside if i crank the steering wheel fully over.

Any suggestions for tires/brands?
Have considered anything from the cheapest
Nankang NS1, Toyo Proxes N-1R to Goodyear Eagle.

I am looking for allround tires that perform good enough for normal driving on both wet and dry roads.
I have absolutly no expirience regarding tires.

I found the posting with the recommended tires from the factory. See https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/194318-porsche-approved-tire-list.html

For what its worth, I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport N2.

In my opinion, tire models changes quite frequently and the technology gap between the best and the mediocre is quite small nowadays to be differentiated by the average driver (myself included). Furthermore, different tires are available in different countries which complicate selections even more.

I personally stick with P-Zero Rosso and not worry too much about getting "the best" tire. I use them in all my cars and seem to work well. Perhaps approaching from a different angle of tire models to stay away from would make the selection process a bit easier.

Goodluck
