Default SEAT BOLTS

I have a 1991 C2, removed seat, and have a couple of bolts with marginal hex heads. I have checked PET for seat bolt part #'s and it shows none. Does anyone know the part number and approx cost of each?

thanks for any help

My PET shows that the part number is "unknown". Sorry. I replaced a few of the bolts on my seats many years ago. I used allen bolts from the local hardware store. If memory serves, they are 8mm x 1.25 bolts that were approx 25 mm in length.

You can get these bolts at the local hardwre store but please be sure to get hardened bolts, these should be metric grade 8.8, regular bolts do not have the strength for this application. You can get the bolts from a dealer as well, if I recall they were ~ $1 a piece from my local dealer.

You won't find the part numbers in the regular 964 catalog, you have to check the seats catalog.

Please be sure to use the washers with the bolts, they are required to develop the design strength at the connections since the holes in the slider are slightly oversize.

Porsche now recommend use of spring washers instead of the conventional ones that were fitted originally, which help in maintaining tension. (It's quite common to find 911's with slightly loose seats because the bolts have worked loose).

Note that the seat bolts are designed for single use only, and should never be re-used after removal.

I second the hardware store approach. I'm blessed with a great ACE where I can get nearly everything all the way up to 12.9

I went the hardware store route. I discovered the head of the hardware store bolt was taller than the factory bolt. This caused interference with the seat going all the way back and I suppose forward. I got new factory ones from Pelican

I picked up bolts from Belmetric and have had great results.

Personally I went to low profile Torx head bolts after have no to remove a stripped out alien head with a chisel. The Torx were unvisited but I’ll get them plated on the next run.

Indeed.
Taking out my seats a decade back revealed this factory part to be (to use an engineering euphemism) 'marginal' wrt reuse.
The bolt's purposely short head height means a similarly low hex socket depth.
Ladle onto that design a bolt material that's NOT all that strong (in yield) to begin with, and... (these bolts material strength requirements aren't all that much given their size and generous spacing)
If you don't hold that hex key squarely AND firmly in place means smearing the bolt's socket.
I don't recall exactly how I removed those few smeared bolts but seem to recall Mr. Vise Grip showing up.
What a pain to encounter.

Don't use a hex key, you want an Elora 3210-INZ.

Hi, I didn't know that the bolts had not only a inside hex but also a bore hole. The bore hole prevents misalignment and reducing the potential to strip the bolt head.

Thanks for sharing.
