to remove undercoating ..strip car , bake shell then media blast ( walnut shells )
then weld in cage ,beef up suspension points ...prime ...paint
sand blast is always a bad idea the sand gets every where you dont want it .

If its a race car and building from shell then it makes a lot of sense. I could get the 80lbs if I just changed the wheels and did an a/c delete + heater delete...probably be about 100 lbs....won't live w/o the heater or a/c, so I guess I can get easy 40 lbs off by going to ccw's + michelins....he makes some very bitchen stuff...and reasonably priced.

Again, thanks for all the input, now this is here for a proper thread search on the subject for the next guy...

yes, that's what I thought. So saying 80 lbs could be a bit misleading when the question was about the undercoating and if the weight loss is worth the effort.

Don't want to be picky, but just so you compare apples with apples...
