Importing my 964 to UK
I am moving to Hong Kong but want to ship my 964 to the UK (cannot get the car into HK as I have not owned it long enough and will not pass emmissions).
I can do the shipping, dereg at this end and even arrange for it to be customed cleared in the UK but need assistance in getting it UK regestired to my UK address.
Can anyone assist?
Cheers
Derek

Since I have not owned it for 6 months, I cannot import it as a personal import.
If u cannot not import it as a personal import, the car will need to meet stricter emmisions - EURI IV emmissions. I believe only from the 996/Boxster pass this.

964tok,
Go to www.dvla.gov.uk then choose "Vehicle Information" and then "Importing a Vehicle"
Hope this helps.

Have been through the same exercise recently. The way I understand it, provided your car is 10 years old (no problem with a 964) all you need in the UK is a valid MOT certificate and insurance and you can then get it registered. There are some details:
a) MOT: If the car is originally US, you'd need to have a speedo that complies, lights that shine the right way for the UK, rear fog lights and a few other minor issues.
b) To get insurance (since you are not yet registered) you insure it under your chassis number and then apply for registration. The insurance is changed to your registration once you get it.
Overall, not a big deal.
