964 or 993?

However, if this were my only car and I had to drive it every day in traffic, on rough roads, in the winter or in extreme heat, I would NOT choose an older Porsche
What I would recommend is that you take a test drive in both the 964 and 993 and see what you think. And personally I would pay a bit extra for a really good example 964 rather than pay the same amount for poor example 993.

Sounds like you have been reading to much Henry Firman.
However just to echo, echo, echo the point - you are correct.
the price difference between a simlar condition 993 and 964 will be about 10-15K. That will pay for a considerable amount of petrol, tires, servicing, tax and insurance over the next 3 years. Alternatively spend some of the cash on a 964 Turbo, pocket the change for extra's and have the ability to blow the majoity of 993 into the weeds in a truely classic car
Also a 964 looks nicer IMHO.
What ever car you buy just make sure you get it fully inspected before your buy. There are as many 993 dogs out there as 964's.

I'm glad people are starting to defend the 964's looks! I actually LOVE how it looks, way more than the 993. (!) I love it's classic front, profile and I even prefer the interior. It's classic and understated. It's the little black dress of cars. Granted, the back end isn't quite as curvaceous as the 993's, but if I want to stare at a nice *** I have a full-length mirror at home!
I just didn't want it's looks to sway my decision if the 993 was a far superior drive. Of course I need to drive both before I make a decision, but you guys have made me optimistic that a 964 will probably meet all of my needs.
If anybody sees a good 964 coupe for sale, please PM me.
Also, I wanted to say how amazed I have been at the response to both of my threads. You guys are great!
