Default Substitute for D90 Wheels on wifes 91 Cab

IF I were to go to 17" wheels on "Cinful" in place of the 16" D90s, what would you sugest? I don't want to overpower the car so what do you think would be appropriate?

Don't you just love these 'what should I do next questions'

The primary reason for the change is to go to 17" instead of the D90s 16s Besides I need new tires for it anyway.

Cup 1's are beautiful, to me, on these cars.

There are a few sites where you can see diff wheels on cars by simply clicking the wheels.

I put chromed turbo twists on my black 964 and it looked awesome. I have tracked the car and the extra inch of width didn't rub at all.

Don you need to come up to Orlando when you get down for the winter and we can put some lowering springs and shocks on it while you are "in the mod mode"

I'm running 17" 993 cup wheels and do not have a single rub issue and I am currently running at approximately Cup Car ride height. Do not worry too much about 17" wheels rubbing as long as the ofsetts are correct.

I second the vote for Cup 1's. I have a set of the Mille Miglia's on my car (not shown in my Avatar). To me, those are THE wheels for a 964.

Be aware though, that that there will be a ride quality price to pay going up in wheel size.

I find that my 16" D90 track wheels with R Compound Victoracers ride better than my 17" road tires. YMMV, but I have actually been toying with the idea of getting a mint set of D90's for road use (the track wheels are pretty knackered), or finding a set of the 16" Cup 1 style wheels.

I recently bought a set of 16" "C-2 5 spoke wheels" from a fellow Rennlister and love em. You can find a picture on wheelenhancement.com. As I understand it they are the Cup I's and were offered as an option in the 90-91 timeframe, which permits you to maintain authenticity if that is important yo you. Spokes are a little thinner than the Cup 1's. There is a picture in Adrian's book as well.

thanks for all your advice. I think I jumped the gun. My wife (her car) is trying to decide, but she wants to wait 'till we get down there where the car is (right after the Holidays) with the car when she makes up her mind.

I have no further comment on the thought processes of women.
