Default which headers do you have

I was shopping around yesterday for a set of headers to replace mine which are bent and ran across this very informative article. http://www.ssheaders.com/header.htm I thought headers were headers but after reading this primer, it seems that I may need to put more effort into the selection process.

So it got me to wondering which headers you all are using. I've seen the pics of the European racing headers from Dart Auto and I have heard the name Bursch as a good maker of headers. I have headers going into Borla racing mufflers. Started with straight pipes but the car was just too loud.

My motor is a stock 3.8L. Just did a complete bottom end rebuild and it runs very strong. I want to match the right headers to complement the motor.

BTW - I think my car is fixable. Having it pulled straigt next week and we will see how she aligns. Keep your fingers crossed.

I don't have headers, but I'm curious who's fixing you tub. I need a little straightening myself.

Depends on how much you want to spend, at the high end you have S-Car-Go, Factory Cup and FVD, in the middle B&B and European Racing headers, at the low end Bursch or stock 993.

I compromised on my 3.8 and went w/ B&B 1 3/4"(1 5/8"ID)

I have a set of old B&B 3.2 Carrera 1.75" headers running on our 4 litre engine, quite successfully at that producing 440hp + 490Nm at up to 8000rpm on our chassis dyno. You certainly do not need larger pipes than this for lesser engines, all you would do is lose low end torque. The only issue I had is that the matching B&B silencer was too noisy to comply with the UK 105dBa at 0.5m track limits, so we have simply made our own silencer for this application. The B&B headers easily outperformed a european header set and a 993 N-GT package on the 4 litre.

That said, at this moment Fedex are bringing me a set of 964 headers from Mark Robles - the craftsman who makes the headers for Robbie at SCarGo.......

mark,

Call Joe Young at Ultimate Paint Shop in Lake Bluff @ 847-295-7404. He fixed my Audi S4 twice, once when it got t-boned and another time for some minor fender work. He has the rack with the templates for the 911. Great work at a reasonable price. Tell him I sent you.

Mine came with B&B headers and exhaust. I am pleased with both but then again I can't really compare since it's my first P-car.

I'm using Fabspeed headers/muffler set-up on my 3.8 and I love the perfromance and sound.
