Thanks for the clarification, Loren. Seems when one thing goes it all goes.
Also for the sake of others, couldn't the alternator going bad also cause the stalling? As for the high 1500rpm idle, which happened after an overfill, is that a symptom of the bad plug wires?

Indy, no I did not get the wires back. Don't need more junk at home.

Well the car has gone 400 miles without incident so I have to say the alternator problem is fixed. Now I have to think about the higher oil consumption.

Well they did an oil change and filled it up... after 200 miles it fell into the red zone... over 3/4 quart. My city oil consumption is usually 1500miles/quart. I've based lined it again to make sure. When it rains!
