I think I might be able to use one of these. I have an aftermarket airbag on/off switch, for driving around with kids in the front seat. After swithcing it on/off, the warning lights illuminate and stay that way until reset.
I think I'd like to try this first, and then I'd buy a setup to keep.
Is there a good link for faq's on this?
Thanks!
Jack

I figured I would revive this thread once again. We have a lot of new members who are asking about the diagnostic interface. It seems ecufix is out of stock and I'm not up on who else is making them these days. If any member wants to read codes on their 964 you can PM me or Ritchie (a few posts up) and ask for the loaner to be sent to your house. The only rules are that you please either send it on to the next person who wants it or that it gets sent back to me until someone else wants it.

The loaner package has the interface, the software and a brief manual on how to use it. It's very easy to use.

Post here if you would like to borrow it.

TIA!

The shipper usually pays. If you PM Ritchie a few posts up to let him know I'm sure he will get it right out to you. Then you can PM us both when you get it.

I currently have it. If you shoot me a PM with your address, I will get it out to you.
Ritchie.

Looks like we need two of them. Ritchie... If you can send the one that you have to tbennett017 I will send the one that I have to Jack. Jack... The one I will send you is my personal one. I'd like to have it shipped back to me as soon as you finish with it. I just need to print out the manual for it and I should be able to get it in the mail to you tomorrow or Saturday at the latest. As far as what all the reading mean... You'll have to either search other threads or post your results here and ask questions. Jack PMed me his address... tbennett017... If you could PM Ritchie with yours I'm sure he'll get it out to you soon.

Thanks all,

Rick

If one is not being used at the moment, I'd much appreciate a loan of one. Only need one long enough to reset the airbag sensor.
thanks!

Tom... I think you are 2nd in line. I am sending my personal one to Jack. He can send it to you when he is finished with it. I'm still waiting for the manual so I can ship it out with the interface.

I'll let you know when it goes out!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Rick -
Thanks again for sending it on to me. I could not get the PCMCIA-to-serial adapter working. I also failed with a USB-to-serial adapter that came bundled with my IBM laptop (maybe the wrong chipset? I saw that somewhere in another thread).
I did however, have success yesterday monring when I resurrected an acient Toshiba laptop that I can't believe we still had, tucked away in a closet, plus the AC charger (as the battery is shot) which was in a different cabinet.
I reset my airbag light and that seems to be holding. I had some faults on Climate Control but I didn't clear them. I wrote them down, maybe I'll also get a screen shot. I think I should clear them and then see if they come back in a day or two. Then I think I'll be done and ready to send it on to the next person.

You will see on some threads that the faults on the Climate Control are usually due to the slow baud rate of the unit. Just clear them and then see if they immediately come back - if not, then they are OK.

some laptops wont connect unless they are plugged into the wall power. Might want to try that. Both of mine are like that.
