I havent got a clue,

I have got my battery on charge again and will have another play about tomorrow,

I did not check for voltage with the scope , I used a voltage meter to test for the voltage

Try test a aa battery
Try test a 9 volt battery
Try test the car battery
Watch the trace jump up and down from the 0 line to 1.5 ish/ 9ish/ 12ish . figure out the VOLTS/DIV **** vs the vertical scale .
Then reread the flywheel sensor for voltage with the scope .

I think so but it is baffling , I definately got nothing on the multimeter .

I definately got something on the scope,

maybe its the earth at 47 thats got the problem, I will spend some time with it tomorrow .I kept testing the multimeter on the other live pins just to make sure it was definately functioning correctly.

When a scope and a multimeter disagree , go with the scope .

For the trace to jump up , voltage , there must be . The trace will not go up or down without voltage .

Still a bit stumped here, had a guy take a look taday and he says it could be the hall sensor, the wires to the sensor do look a bit dodgy.

My question is will the hall sensor stop the spark

Thank you thats what i thought.

I have read that the hall sensor will not allow the car to start, so i take it a faulty sensor will still spark but not start is this correct ?

How about using the scope on the Hall sender ? Pin 2 , Green , is the output signal.

Not correct! Bad info. The Hall sensor is ONLY used for sequential injection and knock control.
The engine will start and run without this sensor.

In Adrians book it states if the hall sensor is faulty the engine will not start.

I will go and pull the hall sensor conector and try start up the motor .

I had someone test this for me when I was diagnosing my fauty DME.
The cars will run without the hall sensor. (search my name & dme for the thread)
