Default Active Recall

I called 800-PORSCHE to ask if there were any active recalls against my vin. I was told that Campaign Number: AT07 was the only active recall and that it is described as "Universal Joint".

Anyone know any more information about this recall?

Thanks,
Dave

I think that's the one for the universal joint on the steering.

Had the AT07 recall done about two years ago when I bought the car at my local OPC.

Went out to the car, looked at something and gave the report "that's fine".
Did the rear spoiler recall at the same time.

Took about 5 min in total.

robh, thanks. What is the rear spoiler recall? And, did you get the same head nod or some sort of replacement part?

Nope, same head nod.

They didn't fit any new parts, according to my local OPC it was just a check over recall, with new parts fitted if they were needed.

IIRC, the spoiler recall, (I'll dig the number out tonight if you like) was the spoiler lifting gear but I may be wrong.

When I called 800-PORSCHE they said the only "active" recall for my car was the universal. That means that I'd be paying for the spoiler work; and probably means there'd be required work, as well!

If I get a chance I'll stop in to see a dealer and ask about the universal recall, but you've allayed my fears.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave

If it's not active then would it not have been done?

According to the OPC ppwk, the recall id is wm03.
Remember, my car is a ROW one, perhaps the American ones didn't need it!?

Just got to put the study back in order now before the missus gets home

Rob,

Thanks for digging that out.

I rather assumed that not being 'active' simply meant that Prosche would no longer pay for it! I was thinking along the lines of statute of limitations in conjunction with severity. I guess I could call back and ask if they have a record of what has been done. That would be an interesting conversation.

By the way, the guy on the phone did list for me the option codes (no translation) that my car was purchased with. I wonder how accurate it is, but I have been curious. The code lookup is easy and everywhere. I have a pretty complete list. No surprises and the codes do match my car (intensive wiper, rear wiper, headlight washers (thought that was standard!), stereo (long gone) and leather. Check, check, ... all correct.

Thanks again, and sorry for the mess in the study!

Cheers,
Dave

A part of the steering column upper universal joint cracked during the manufacturing process. That's very interesting. I have no noise nor freeplay. Still, seems worth a look.

Thanks!

Jason, Thanks. Some how I missed the spoiler info last night. What is a microencapsulated mounting screw? It appears that the threads at the shoulder are machined away. I'll check these screws. Perhaps some lock tite will suffice?

Cheers,
Dave
