As I have posted before ,I am looking @ a 1994 C2.The car has about 95k miles on it.
At what point based on miles should I expect to need a rebuild on the engine.
Well that totally depends. There are more than a few examples of engines well past the 150k mile mark without rebuilds needed. Mine is one of them. I am right now at 165k miles and just did the clutch.
Check your comp, leakdown and maintenance records. If things are in order then get in the car and drive. Of course there are more than a few folks who will rebuild the engine as a preventative maintenance effort ; I personally wait for the engine to fail before dumping that kind of money into it.

Of course, what's possible and what's typicall are different things.
I do not know what is typical, but get the impression that some where between 100k miles and 150k is typically where rebuilds get done. Top end vs bottom end seems to vary, but a full bottom end seems the better approach if you plan to keep the car.
i've been saving up for 10 yrs and 204,000 miles on mine. I can still beat almost anyone off the line (certain V-8's excepted) and can sprint from 75 or whatever the legal limit is these days to 100+ in a split second, uphill.
I might get a rebuild for cosmetic reasons (drip drip drip) at 250,000.
