My First Porsche
Hello All...
Today was a great day. It was sunny, in the 80's and I picked up my first Porsche. What a car!!!!
It handles great and the power is fantastic. I gave up my Ducati for this and it was well worth it. The Duc was awesome but, I've always been a car guy and this is definatley the way to go for me.
Its a '90 Targa. White w/ Black interior w/75k miles on it. I would say its a 7 out of 10 overall.
The body/paint is in good condition. Its got knock off rims from Tire Rack. I need new 17' tires. The PO did DE's and toasted the rears. Any recommendations? I am leaning towards "Big Stone" REO50 Pole Positions (price is right at the 'Rack).
It needs a valve adjustment and has a small oil leak that was found out during the PPI, so I will need to take care of those items soon. The Head bolts were checked and they are in tact so that's a relief. Other than that a few cosmetic items need to be corrected when I get a chance to get around to them. Other than that..I gotta enjoy it as much as I can before I put it away for the winter(another 2 months).
Hope you like the pics.

I thought this was Porsche forum.
Just kidding.
The Element has its + and -.
+ It is very versitile (pickup with a roof on it).
+ Honda reliability
+ 4wd good in the winter
+ huge amounts of head room and rear seat leg room
- I got the 4wd one so the gas mileage is less than I expected (~21 mpg).
- It's a 4 passenger (would have liked it to be a 5p)
- My wife thought it looked like it came from the junkyard.
I like the Targa a lot better.

Nice Wheels
When I got back in the Porsche game nine years ago.....a 930 Turbo had been my daily drive in my prior life......I bought a '91 964 C2....what a ride and I still miss that Porsche...it had been doctor owned with just 27,000 miles.....the lack of use lead to a lot of expense
The raw mechanical sounds, the heat after a run, the smells..it is a real Porsche......Enjoy in good health

Thanks all for the good words.
The 964 is definatly a different experiance from all the other cars that I have owned. The most fun cars I've had until now was an 87 Honda CRX Si (beater) and my 97 BMW 3 Series coupe. Those were a blast to drive but the 964 is a much more unique experiance. The sounds and smells etc just get me going.

Great car! Glad you finally got it, it looked like a good one. And a good price too, as I recall. You did well.
Yeah, too bad you can only use them 2/3 of the year. I remember the storage thing, I lived in Dayton for the first 30 years of my life. I finally got out. Friggin' snow/ice/salt !!!!

Very nice! Add another Targa to the list....
I sold my ZX12R and bought my first Porsche. Will never look back.
I do miss the pure acceleration of the bike, but the 964 is loads more fun.
Congrats.
