Default Uk- best place for a cat by-pass?

Looks like my cat is about to give up!

Also the sensor is shot.

I need to replace the sensor but have been advised to do the cat or by-pass.

As its cheaper to replace the cat with a by-pass pipe any thoughts on the best place to get one in the uK.

There is one on ebay at the moment but its steel, should I be looking at stainless?

Needs to have sensor mounting

Got mine from 9M - excellent and with the hole for the O2 Senso as well as being SS.

The Dansk unit is also good but more expensive

I sure Colin B will do you a deal

John

Try Euro Car Parts for Dansk stuff. If you catch them on a good day they may price match.

I got them down to £120 inc vat for a cup pipe before I sorted one from an RS owner.

I have pondered the cheap mild steel one too. I guess its like aftermarket s/s exhausts which are often guaranteed for life, whereas most standard exhausts are mild steel and start getting ratty after 5 or 6 years. You pays your money..

I'll let you know how I get on with it as I just bought it.

5-6 years would be good, I was thinking a year or two and then hopefully I would have a bit more cash to replace it with an expensive one!

I bought one of these off ebay and wouldn't recommend it - the o2 sensor hole was on the wrong side and would have caught on the wheel. I had to get my garage to cut and reweld it to move the hole round by 90 degrees. I could be I had a one off where he made it wrong but...Plus it is not a very good fit and had trouble stopping the exhaust blowing.

Not too difficult I think watching my local specialist fitting it - however it was up on a lift at the time..! Just a matter of loosening off the clamps at each end, taking off the old cat and then fitting the bypass with the o2 sensor in it. Large prybar needed to make sure in properly and not blowing!
