"Derk" seems to be the top one on this so far (at 270,000), but i'm not too far behind at 220,000. I do believe there was a discussion on high mileage cars last year and I was amazed at how many were over the 200K mark.

Out of curiousity, how often do those of you with sky-high mileage on your cars with ORIGINAL engines change your oil, and what type of oil and grade do you use?

I change my oil once a year which is typically 15K miles. I run Mobil 1 15W-50

Rob, you just ruined the Jiffy Lube share prices! LOL

Actually be interesting to see if the high mileage cars have any engine mods like ECU or something.

I'll be curious to hear if other high mileage engines have any mods. My engine is bone stock. I have dreamt of making changes/upgrades to the engine when it needs to be rebuilt but in the mean time, I'm leaving it alone. Knock on wood.....

Well, my 89 does have 220,000 on the clock, but got the "factory" rebuild early on in its life at around 30,000-ish miles. (and it still leaks a little)
AS far as mods, it only has an autothority chip and aero mirrors (i figure the mirrors alone are good for 5 hp! )
Original primary muffler, second secondary - third i guess if you include the previous J pipe that the second muffler replaced. Have replaced one fuel injector (cracked and spitting fuel everywhere). Also replaced return fuel line as it too was leaking. replaced one of the HVAC temp motors. A/C doesn't hold a charge anymore. And it idles a little rough even after a hammer visit.
Otherwise, it's the most reliable car i've yet owned - it's my daily driver year round.

Frank, do you go full throttle often? How hard do you drive it?

168k no rebuild ever, 2 owner car all records.... runs like champ. Has the early 90 oil issues but only a couple drops of oil on the pan on the floor.

EGgplant - I drive it like a porsche should be driven

I try to get WOT to redline a couple of times per journey just to - ahem - clean out the carbon deposits. (I also drive an alfa romeo, and they call it "an Italian tune up", and no i'm not making that up!)

Frank
I'm well aware of italian tuneups. I'm just wondering about the raised redline and longevity. I suppose you being in canada you get 93 octane more easily than in CA, where I have to mix 100 octane with 91 to get 93... and the math gets fuzzy when you're in a rush. Not to mention they close the 100 octane pump at 11pm so people can refill to go street racing. Strange that.
