Newbie question, the ever popular fuel odor gremlin

Thanks for the input. I appreciate knowing that some of you DON'T have the odor, from which I conclude, the system as designed is workable and doesn't need replacing, an expense I can avoid.
Prior to my purchase and changing the fuel filter neck, the car had not been driven much over the past 6 or so years. As such, I will follow the advice of steam cleaning the carpet throughout the car, as the fuel odor does tend to hang-on. Also, I will take a closer look at the expansion tank on top of the tank and inspect for breakage, lose hose clamps, etc.
As to the question about my avatar, that is my 4 year old Siberian Husky, Bingo.
