CCU Return Vents
Deep behind dash. These flaps open when the fan is running to allow air to reciruclate. Didn't seem to matter if I had recirc on, or not.
You can clearly see the evaporator when the vents open. If only it could be removed from this side (sigh).

Great Thread Dave,
Under my dash there is no cover (apart from the front edge) I've noticed on American Cars the lower dash is different. Do the American car have any sort of cover that hides the wiring?

usa cars have passenger airbag , hence the underdash to have a glovebox .
like our 993's and turbo 2 3.6 has
mine has a 993 lowerdash fitted , make a massive difference to the interior , looks a lot more modern , and easy to fit .

Nice post & great pics!
It reminded me that my driverside left kick panel is just sitting there. (sorta wedged in place) I have looked at it twice and I have yet to figure out anyway to screw it to anything.

This car had airbag, anyone have more experience doing this. I have airbag on my pass side and hesitate a bit pulling stuff out around this. Have respect for the airbag package

I removed my lower dash the other day and took some pics that I thought I'd share.
Lower Dash Removal
There are (2) bolts on either side of the dash, two bolts behind the ash tray and a bolt under each of the CCU and Radio.
Left side
(2) screws for cover, (2) 10mm bolts

Great writeup for removal of the knee brace/lower dash. This makes replacement of the ignition switch easier than taking out the seat and trying to do it lying on one's back - at least for me. Thank you.
