Ooopss Convertible Top Broke

Ooopss Convertible Top Broke
Well I think it happened to me. Last week rightbefore getting ready to leave town for a week I was putting up my top on my 90' C2 and it happened. I got the top about half way up and it stopped. I tried to lower it and it was grinding really bad and blew the fuse. Of course I didn't have a lug wrench with me to lower the top so I replaced the fuse and "helped" the top down, but it wouldn't shuit all the way. So I drove it home holding it down. When I finally got home I used the wrench to lower the top but the little cam lock things didn't work so I had to remove that header panel (need a new one of those now too ) and had to lock it manually using a screwdriver.
To top all of this off I am moving from CA to West Palm Beach next week when I get back in town. So I have 2 questions, about how much am I looking at spending to fix this? Can anyone recommend someone in the West Palm Beach area to repair this?
Thanks.

Yea I was kinda hoping to sell it before we moved to FL, but I also kinda wanted to keep it. If I sell it I am only going to spend another $15-20K to get something newer. After the move to FL I will more than likely just keep it.
*I have sold it to about 4 Nigerians so far and had them send the checks and all....LOL...what idiots those scammers are.

Yeah.....I get those e-mails all the time too. The crazy thing is...I hear people still fall for it! I guess there are some really gullible people out there...
I'm going to St. Petes in late October for a week....my girlfriend's parents have a condo down there. Gorgeous state....but then again I understand California is not too shabby either!

I just replaced the rear motors on my 93 C4 for the same reasons. About $1,000. Now I have to replace the top. My question is, which would the group reccomend for my 93 C4, the origonal 2 piece or updated 1 piece (993?) top?

A search for "cabriolet tops" will yield all sorts of great information -- including DIY repairs. I had a broken strut and had it welded for $40. Some of us raise and lower the top manually, and only use the locking motors to secure it to the windshield frame.

I have a brand new strut sitting in the garage for mine (I broke it 15 minutes after I got the car). I leave the top down 99% of the time and plan to have it replaced someday. I had some work done at Autohaus in Stuart, they seem to have a decent body shop and know the 964 pretty well. I would recommend someone else for engine (tuning) work however.

Randy, the 993 top cost $3000 for the top and $700 to install, at least that is what it cost in 2000 when I had mine replaced. The dealer picked up the cost of the top eventhought it was out of warranty because Porsche apparently had ripping issues with it.
