I just came from a Optima distributor and was told that the D35 Yellowtop is not a deep cycle. Is this true?

Thanks, that's what I thought. I don't know why they would insist that the yellow top D35 is not a deep cycle. Correct me if I'm wrong but the D35 will fit a 964 right? The other issue is the placement of the terminals. They must be near the edge of the battery to work with the stock 964 wiring.

right top pic, wrong bottom pic

Yup. That top one looks like mine, fits w/o problem.

Maybe the dealer is equating "deep cycle" with "marine"...which is the more usual application for a deep cycle battery. I do know mine's been dead flat and recharged a number of times while trying to figure out a current draw, and it's still going strong.

Does anyone know where to buy an Optima D35 Yellow Top? I've been everywhere. No one has this battery. Everyone carries the D34. I won this auction on eBay, the guy just emailed me and said he doesn't have them anymore. The other option would be to change the wiring in my car to either side post or just chnge the positive so it could reach the top post on the D34. I'm a little conserned about messing with that possitive cable though. It's a dual cable that leads into a stiff 90 degree turn. I'm not sure I want to start tearing that apart.

I just bought a D35 Yellow Top from this guy on eBay. I emailed him prior to verify he had them in stock, and he said he had 15 of them ready to ship.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT

So, hopefully I'll actually get the D35. I talked to several Optima distributors in Houston, and all were out and said they hadn't received a shipment from Optima in months.

I think your link is bad. I bought mine Thursday from these guys, http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/
$149 shipping included. Bought over the phone on thursday, it was on my porch on saturday. I'm happy with the battery and their service.

Corrected the link...my total was $145.75 with shipping so that must be the going rate now.

Hopefully I'll get mine as fast also...
