I like the beater truck idea; gives you all you need for transporation and track mule.

I've been browsing in the 911 Carrera 4 '89 Service Information technik (wkd 495 121) manual and came across trailer info:

Max Trailer load
- w/o brakes 500 kg
- with brakes 1200 kg
- Max car/trailer weight 2990 kg
- max drawbar load 75 kg

Note that these are listed as Carrera 4 RoW figures. There are no figures for USA. Seems odd.

If you're thinking about a trailer hitch for your 964, here is a link that you'll probably want to read!

If it helps , the motor bay wiring harness has a 12 pin plug for powering the TRAILER PLUG !! Looks like Porsche accepted that trailers would be used.

Guy I knew a long time ago, towed a small boat with his 911.

Maybe worth looking at tow hitch manufacturers to see if the 911 is covered ?

Good luck

How bout renting a toe vehicle when you need to?

I've had the same thought for the times I could use a truck, the cost of renting is far less than having to outlay the $'s to buy for something I need once in a while. I used a van years ago to get me to the track which worked out great. With renting you get to try the vehicle of your choice and it may help you decide which one works best for you if you eventually decide to buy.
