Hey all...
I've been looking for a 964 for a while and I found this jewel on autotrader. I was wondering what you thought about the price, given the mileage of 44k. and the brief description.
KBB and NADA say the car should retail for between $20k and $24k.

I appreciate your input.

That looks like a nice car. C2s seem to be getting somewhat scarce. I paid more than that for my 1992 with 77k miles but it is a very nice car. If you would like to take a ride in a 964 C2 let me know. I'm in Clintonville and will use any excuse to go for a ride.

KBB and NADA are IMHO usually low on nice 911's.... I don't know much about 964 values, but as an asking price this seems reasonable, especially if the PPI is clean... Good Luck...

As mentioned already, a good PPI will tell you a lot about the car. In SoCal, it is becoming very tough to find good 964's with proper history. INMHO, the initial asking price and description is enough to go see the car. Last year I paid a few grand more for my 92 w/ 50k, all ppwrk, ruf wheels and H&R springs. Good luck!

I'd be patient and find a local PCA member/rennlist member that you can trust. Most enthusiasts will have some sort of a PPI performed already, or can refer you immediately to their mechanic who recently seen the car. Just my 2 cents...

By the way, kelly blue book and NADA values are mostly useless for 10+ year old "specialty cars" like Porsches. The true market value of a prestine car is generally higher than even the excellent rating in the book. Maybe the book value is close for a clean (i.e. no dents) car with 90K miles sitting on a used car lot with some patina, worn out parts and non-stock bits on it, but not for a meticulously maintained low mileage example that given the miles was probaby not used as an everyday workhorse. The few thousand more you pay for a clean car that is prestine is more than worth it if you can swing it....especially if you keep the car that way when you own it!
By the way, I have no opinion on the car that started this thread (the '91), because the ad was gone by the time I saw this. I was just making a general comment on using things like KBB and NADA guides to estimate the value of an older porsche.
