Where are all the 964s?
I've been casually hunting 993s the past couple of months, looking for my next car. Budget might dictate looking at a 964 too, so I've also been surfing for them. There are 993s for sale everywhere, plenty to choose from. But very few 964s for sale and those that are there, I'm not interested in. I'd want a nice late-model coupe, reasonable mileage, with all records and no issues, and there's just not any for sale that I can find.
Is there a handshake I need to learn?

We are holding on to them until the 993 Rennlist crowd inflates the price so much selling to each other, ours will naturally rise in price as well
Maybe the high prices for 10 year old 993's is why so many are still sitting on the market.

Hi Mark.....!!
Well.......964's were produced during some of the darkest times for PAG......the low sales volume says it all.
Here in Canada for example, during 1992-1994 when I was the sales manager at the Porsche dealer in Calgary, approximately 110 Porsches were sold in the entire country "each year".........15 928's.....30 968's.....and 65 964 coupes/cabs......more or less.......
US numbers were on a similar scale..........albeit larger in volume..........IIRC worldwide sales at that time were 17,000 production cars of all models........and today we have very close to 100,000 cars and SUV's being sold worldwide.
"Good" 964 "survivors" are veeerrrryyy hard to find.....it's my favorite 911 of all time and I search high and low for them up here......it ain't easy......given what numbers I have to start with.
I just bought and resold a pristine "almost" concours quality 1994 C2 coupe with 40K miles in Chicago last month.......had to weed thru about 25 so-so cars to find it.

Not nice Gary. But let me know if you're selling any time soon. Seriously, all I'm finding are run-o-the-mill cars, 70k+ with spotty records, 20-footers. There's a lime green one on ebay that looks interesting, but I can't load the page because they have some flash movie plugged into it.

Mark - I would consider selling my 93 but after adding the Fikse wheels/Michelin PS2's, Bilstein/Eibachs, Pioneer w/XM radio i'm afraid it will enter well into good 993 territory. The reality is I *would* possibly sell her because all I really do is run my SC in DE's anymore, road driving just doesn't do it fo me. I even haven't gotten her to the shop for an alignment after the new suspension install, just haven't had time.. You would be looking at a $30K+ non-negotiable price with me at best, and I haven't really thought about it. The wheels/tiires alone were $5K, Springs/shocks another $1K, radio $1K... it adds up. She is all original, never DE'd, tight as a new car..

I've seen the same thing. I'm always looking around at the ads and there are plenty of 993s but very few 964 coupes, especially 92-94. Hmm...maybe it's a good time to sell a 92.

Yes not much out there! Even the ones that have been on the market a long time are starting to move. I've decided to sell my current car then start looking seriously. Really really hard to find the C2 coupes. Seem to be a fair amount of Targas, Tips and cabs. C4s also seem to be more plentyful and stay around longer.

I am thinking about selling my C4. It's a 1992 with 93k miles and it's gp white. The car is super clean. I'm in Montreal Canada. What do you figure I could get for this car?

The 964 is really the last of the true 911s.Vent windows, bug eyed headlights(which the 997s are starting to sport),basic not to fancy, but highly functional dash, and of course air cooled. That's the car I fell in of with as a kid,and is still going strong.I think there are a lot of people out there who look at the 964 the same way.In a way its like having a peice of history. The 993s,996s,and the 997s are great cars, but having one is not the same as one of the old ones.

There are good cars out there. It just takes time to locate them.
