Default Ride height measure points

Adrian's book lists the ride heights F&R, but does not indicate where the measuring points are. Did I miss it?

Paraphrased from the workshop manual:

Front:

From road surface contact area of wheel to outer mounting hex bolt - "Crossmember to body"

Rear:

From road surface contact area of wheel to body side of outer control arm mount.

Marc -

It appears that the front reference point is the same as the 993, but it looks like the rear reference point is different than the 993, is that true?

There is a section I described in the Suspension DIY, including a picture of these points on the 993, in this thread:

I had this saved from somewhere, dunno where. Maybe it'll help. Apologies for the marginal quality...

Kevin, maybe I am looking at the shop manual incorrectly but the rear measuring point you pictured looks like a different point... ?

Did you set yours to 218mm from that point?

Also,
RS Ride height (according to Adrian's book):
F- 125mm
R- 218mm

Mark,

You need to subtract 100mm from my measuring point, or use the one in the scanned picture above.

the cast boss is very small, probably 10mm square, its also difficult to get to. hence my alternative, sorry for the confusion.

Thanks!
I like your measuring point much better. Was just looking at the rear point today and was thinking it was a pain in the **** to get to.

Mark,

RS ride height (according to the Porsche Workshop Manual, pages 44-02, 44-03) is

F: 125 mm +/- 5 mm
R: 223 mm +/- 5 mm "From road contact surface to meas. point at control arm (mm)"
OR
R: 235 mm +/- 5 mm "From road contact surface to meas. point at outer control arm mount (mm) (body side)* Use this measuring point, if it is available"

So I'm not sure where the 218 came from (it is not RS + 5 mm as suggested).

Marc, my car is RS +/-5mm, the dimensions given were RS in Adrians book for an ROW car.
218 at control arm, 230 at outer control arm. page 262 of Adrians book.

You will have to ignore page 18 on the write up, it's stuck in the Pipex cache and they are not helping me shift old data, they have also not helped in allowing me to ftp my data up, so the info is squiffy on that page, I've tried to sort it out over the past few days, but am having no luck in gaining access to my site.

sorry

Mark, are the pictures showing up for you? I just clicked on it and it doesn't look like they are appearing, but it might just be me. If not, then I'll have to check with my host.

Kevin - is it the "Euro RS" that Adrian refers to in his book (set lower than regular RS)?? Your Pipex page says you set it at RS + 5 mm (suggesting RS was 213 mm). Is it possible you meant RS - 5 mm for regular RS or is it actually Euro RS so + 5 mm?

Jeff - I looked a few times earlier today (to see the 993 rear measure point you asked about) and no pictures showed up.
